In honor of our 25th anniversary this month, we’re taking a nostalgic journey through the past quarter-century with 25 fun facts about ACT, the pop culture moments that defined the times, and the incredible technological advancements we’ve witnessed. From starting out in a coat closet to becoming a multi-million-dollar MSP, we’ve grown alongside innovations like cloud computing, smartphones, and Artificial Intelligence. Let’s reflect on the milestones, both ours and the world’s, that have shaped the last 25 years:  

About Us:

  1. The company started in a coat closet!
  2. Our president got his start building computers for his gamer friends in college.
  3. One of the driving decisions in selecting our name was that our president wanted us to appear under “A” in the phone book. 
  4. 25 years ago, before he had the corner office, our president was an intern for a company who is an important client today!
  5. We keep a company popcorn machine in our closet.
  6. On Wednesdays, we wear pink to raise funds for metastatic breast cancer.
  7. ACT sponsors an Autism awareness bike race every year.
  8. ACT has clients who have been with us for over 20 years! 

Pop Culture: 

  1. ACT has been around for five U.S. presidents.
  2. ACT is just one year younger than Google.
  3. The Harry Potter book series began and ended while ACT has been in business.  
  4. Tom Brady’s entire legendary career—spanning seven Super Bowl wins—took place during the time ACT has been operating.
  5. When ACT started, Friends was a top TV show, and streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu didn’t exist.
  6. Since ACT was founded, we’ve witnessed thirteen Olympic Games: seven Summer and six Winter.
  7. The same year ACT started; Apple introduced 5 new colors for the iMac marking the beginning of colorful iMacs.

Technological Advancements:
When ACT opened its doors in 1999:   

  1. “The cloud” was just something in the sky.
  2. Windows 95 was new, and we’ve stayed ahead through every major Windows update, helping clients adapt.
  3. Smartphones didn’t exist (and we witnessed the rise and fall of blackberry).
  4. Flip phones were cool and now foldable phones are back.
  5. Floppy disks were still in use.
  6. We saw the first-ever camera phone launched in 2000.
  7. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram didn’t exist. 
  8. We witnessed the death of the walkman and the birth of the iPod in 2001.
  9. Bluetooth was used only for headsets, and now it connects to cars and smartwatches.
  10. Alexa was just another girl’s name! Now, Alexa is a household voice assistant.
